When a Century City firm needs a client’s signature notarized today, the quickest route is usually not getting the client to the office. It’s sending a mobile notary to wherever the client is: home in Brentwood, a hospital room, a hotel, or their own office.
Paralegals and assistants in 90067 book us this way for declarations, estate documents, settlement paperwork and closing packages. Here’s what makes it go smoothly.
What we need from the firm
- The client’s name, address and phone, and a good time window.
- A count: how many documents, how many signatures to notarize, and how many signers.
- The certificate type for each document, or the certificate already attached. We can’t choose between an acknowledgment and a jurat for you.
- Return instructions: does the client keep the originals, or do we hand them to a courier?
Getting the documents to the client
Email the final PDFs to the client to print, or send a printed set ahead. A California notary can’t notarize from a screen. Make sure every blank is filled in before the visit; if a blank can’t be completed, the document may need to come back to the firm first.
At the client’s door
We identify the client from acceptable ID, have them sign our journal, administer any oath, and complete the certificates. We don’t explain the documents or answer legal questions, so let the client know to call you if they have any before we arrive.
Do you even need a notary?
For many California filings, a declaration under penalty of perjury does the job with no notary. Notarization is still needed for anything recorded, most documents going out of state or abroad, and anything the recipient insists on. Our post on declarations vs. notarized affidavits covers the difference.
