Sawtelle’s apartments and condos in 90025 are full of shared households: roommates, couples, siblings, parents and adult kids. When a document needs several of you to sign before a notary, the cheapest and fastest way is one visit with everyone at home at the same time.
Documents shared households often sign
- Statements about who lives in the unit, for a landlord, school or agency.
- Authorizations letting one roommate deal with the landlord or utilities for everyone.
- Lease guaranties from parents who are visiting.
- Affidavits for an insurance claim after a break-in or water leak, when the insurer asks for them notarized.
Rules for a group signing
- Everyone appears in person. A roommate on FaceTime from work can’t be notarized; California notaries can’t notarize remotely.
- Everyone brings their own ID, current or issued within the last five years. Foreign passports work. See acceptable ID.
- Each signer speaks for themselves. We’ll confirm each person understands and is signing willingly.
- Separate copies if each person signs their own statement. Print one per person and fill in every blank.
If someone can’t be there
They can sign their part before a notary wherever they are, if the document allows separate signature pages. Ask whoever requested it.
