If you realize the night before an early flight that something needs notarizing, it can usually still be done. We’re available 24/7 by appointment, so an evening signing at home in Santa Monica, Culver City or West LA is often possible. What can’t be rushed is anything that needs a government office afterward, like an apostille.
The usual last-minute documents
- A power of attorney so someone can handle a closing, a car or a bank matter while you’re gone. See powers of attorney.
- A travel consent letter when a child is flying without one or both parents. See travel consent letters.
- Loan or closing documents that need signing before you leave.
- An affidavit someone back home needs while you’re away.
What makes a late appointment work
- Call, don’t just book online. For tonight or early tomorrow, a phone call is fastest: (424) 484-9268.
- Print everything now. A California notary can’t notarize from a screen.
- Fill in all blanks before we arrive, and don’t sign anything that says to sign before a notary.
- Get every signer together. For a child’s travel consent, that may mean the parent who isn’t traveling.
- Keep your ID out, not packed. See acceptable ID.
If you’re staying near the airport
We also meet travelers at the hotels along Century Boulevard and in Westchester. Give us the hotel and your room or meeting spot. See our hotel notary page.
What we can’t speed up
If the document also needs an apostille for use abroad, that has to go to the Secretary of State during business hours, and same-day isn’t guaranteed. In that case, sign tonight and leave the original with someone who can handle the apostille and send it on.
Evening and early-morning appointments cost more than our standard 8 AM to 7 PM weekday rates. See our Policies.
